Hair straightening URGENT?

i have VERY curly irish hair. like penicil width curls. when i straightened my hair, instead of looking natural, it developed this gross, floaty quality. how do i fix it?

Hair straightening URGENT?

they sell stuff that you put on you hair when its dry then straighten it right after, my hair was like that to well is but i use that stuff, theres a bunch of different kinds

it say like heat activated straightner

Hair straightening URGENT?

i think u shud use a good quality hair protecting and styling cream before u straighten ur hair.it will protect, smoothen ur hair out and will add body to it.but remmbr to use only a slight amount of it.

conditioning ur hair in ur bath will also help.

also, i think u shud use a slightly higher temperature on ur hair.and remmbr not to go over it more than thrice.

just use it twice.

suppose, if u use ur strtner at 130 degrees, u shud try 140.

the same thing happened with my moms curly hair when i strtnd it at 130. she also got it floaty. so, better try a little higher temperature, with a serum or hair cream.

hope i helped u!

Hair straightening URGENT?

John Freida Frizz Ease products work very well for curly/frizzy hair. There is one in particular that I used before that was my favorite. I believe it is called a conditioning cream. You rub it in your dry hair then use the flat iron. Some kind of smoothing creme or conditioning creme applied before straightening should help eliminate the fly away strands.

Hair straightening URGENT?

Use Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight Shampoo and Conditioner. It works really well to get your hair super soft and helps it move in a fine line while you straighten it and it protects it. But I would suggest instead of trying to flatten it every time you are done washing it, maybe use really wide, big curlers in your hair. Big curls/waves are gorgeous. and it'll keep your hair from getting dried out and prevent that weird quality you were talking about.

Does permanently straightening your hair damage your hair later on?

does it damage your hair later on when your new roots come out or will your new roots just come out naturally and your hair will be back to normal/silky/straight and you won't have to permanently straighten it anymore?

Does permanently straightening your hair damage your hair later on?

Straightening your hair will only straighten the hair it is applied to. It also only damages the hair it touches. When your hair grows back, it will grow back the way your hair was before you straightened it. Like all chemical procedures, you have to keep retouching every so often. This can be very drying to your hair, so make sure you take care of it properly.

Does permanently straightening your hair damage your hair later on?

It could damage your hair. You just have to be sure that you take initial care of it.

Does permanently straightening your hair damage your hair later on?

the damage caused is severe. my cousin's hair used to b VERY thick after permanant straightning it started falling down and now in the middle of her hair, the line is sooo big. dont do it

Does permanently straightening your hair damage your hair later on?

I permanently straightened my hair and I'm fine. However, the new hair (at the roots) is curly, as my hair naturally is. The only part of your hair that will be straight is the part you straightened, because you chemically relaxed it. Your new hair growth will be how it is naturally (before straightening)

Does permanently straightening your hair damage your hair later on?

YES! for sure. Please do not perm/relax your hair. If you have curly or a kinky texture of hair and want it straight just use a pressing comb or a flat iron because in the long run your hair will become very damaged. I have very long/curly hair so what I do is use a product called "luster Silk". It is a straightening enhancer but not a relaxer. You spray it on after your hair is washed and blow dried. Once you've blown it dry use a flat iron and your hair will be silky and straight. It helps to get your curly hair straight. It washes right out when you wash your hair. Once my hair is straight I use a hair serum called "Frizz Ease" to tame those fly aways.

Hope this helps you.

Best heat protectant when straightening hair?

Yeah, I just want to know what the best is. I have chemically straigtened hair and i want to use a curling iron every once in awhile.

And for also when water touches my hair it dries pouffy and it makes me have an afro lol.

Best heat protectant when straightening hair?

Tresemme makes a heat protectant for your hair that is absolutely amazing for the price. It's like 3 dollars and has a great spray pump, plus it doesn't smell like chemicals, and it leaves your hair super shiny and smooth. It's called "thermal creations heat tamer protective spray". Here's the website if you want to check it out further. But it's what I use and I straighten my hair everyday!

My hair has BIG problems. Straightening tips?

Hi!

my hair is THICK! and to tame it, I straighten my hair with a kind of cheap straightner...Conair...but it stays for one day and then curls again and turns greasy.

So, next week I have dress rehearsals and shows for the musical and I would like to wear my hair down with my dress. I do not want to use ANY products, but would like to keep straight, non-greasy hair.

So what do I do to accomplish this hard task? :)

Thanks soo much

My hair has BIG problems. Straightening tips?

i have evil thick and poofy hair too thats hard to deal with. I used to use conair and it did a very bad job, so if you can, get a better straightener. I use a karmin titanium and its very good (i bought it for $60). The best straighteners are sedu, CHI, ghd, but these are expensive and you might not be able to get it before your rehearsal. Maybe one of your friends has a better one? Also, put it on high heat and use a heat protectant so that it stays straight and doesnt burn your hair. I know you dont want to use hair products, but they really help to make your hair stay lookng good and stops it from poofing out (if you have this problem). Also, to help with the greasy hair problem, put a little bit of baby powder in your hand and rub it in your hair. It sounds weird, but it really works and you cant see it. Good luck on your musical!! My school is doing Grease :)

oops one more thing. It will really help if you get your hair layered and thinned. I did this and it looks so much better when i straighten it and its also a lot easier to straighten.

My hair has BIG problems. Straightening tips?

to help with the greasyness add some lemon juice to your shampoo and your best off buying a better straightener in the future. i also dont like to use many products in my hair but you do need to buy a heat protectant spray sometime because your hair WILL get fried. i use treseme and it cost 4 dollars.

My hair has BIG problems. Straightening tips?

get a lot of layers to reduce the thickness or even side bangs. thats a hard task go to a beauty hair salon and ask for tips that what i did. it really helps.

My hair has BIG problems. Straightening tips?

I probably have thicker hair than you.

mine is AMAZINGLY thick

I takes hours to straighten at 240oc!

Which is very hot!

You need to get better straighteners

Get the highest you can.

Every girl has to spend on herself

Mine cost about 鎷?0

And they have lasted me

And another tip:

Use moose or hairspray

And when you just put that in straighten it.

Then brush it

Best wishes

My hair has BIG problems. Straightening tips?

i agree with Lianne, your hair will fry and you get split ends....i also use tresemme before i straighten my hair and from my experience its the best stuff to use. i use garnier fructis sleek and shine shampoo and conditioner (its the green bottle) , and i really think its the best for your hair. it really cleans it well, getting rid of all the oil, and it makes your hair shiny and frizz free, it also helps your hair stay straight longer....you should definetly get some.

My hair has BIG problems. Straightening tips?

Well, I definately advise that you invest in a quality straightener if you can afford it. I am a GHD girl and trust me, they are so worth the money. They are amazing, I have had mine for 4 yrs now and it is a total godsend. But if I have an occasion where I want my hair to straight with no fuss, I go to my salon for a blow dry and straighten. It lasts for ages and I wash my own hair before going in to save money, I have really long hair and they charge me like $20 and it lasts for like 5 days. Oh and tea tree shampoo is excellent for oily hair, it really balances it out without hurting your ends like other products can. Goodluck in your musical

Anyone have advice on straightening your hair?

I have naturally curly hair and I was considering getting one of those kits like for perms only this straightens your hair. Has anyone ever used this stuff my hair does frizz if I blow dry it or in certain weatherbut not to bad I am curios if anyone has ever used this on their hair and if they liked if it turned out well what is this best kind does it last forever or will it wear off in case I dont like it straight. Did it ruin your hair? I have heard that it would. I do have sort of thick hair as well. My hair is not like tight curls but not wavy either like a mixture of both. Should I just use a flat iron thing instead of the chemical way and whats the best styling product to help it not be frizzy straight but straight if you know what I mean. Any advice would be great.

Thanks in advance

Anyone have advice on straightening your hair?

Unfortunately none of that stuff really works. Even if you go to a salon to get your hair straightened it still doesn鈥檛 really work. It helps (very damaging to your hair though) but in the end you still have to use styling tools at home to straighten it. First off, you will want a good salon shampoo and conditioner; they are a little pricey but definitely worth it. I usually stock up when they are having sales. If you want something that will fight humidity then get Sleek Looks shampoo and conditioner; it鈥檚 made my Matrix and both are in orange bottles. If you don鈥檛 have a problem with humidity then Biolage Hydrating shampoo and conditioner works really well; also made my Matrix. I usually use Sleek Looks in the summer and Biolage in the winter. You should also get a product called Bio Silk. It鈥檚 like a lotion for your hair and you only have to use a tiny bit of it, plus is smells wonderful. It can be put in your hair wet or dry. I usually put a little bit in my hair while it鈥檚 wet right before I blow dry my hair and then I put a tiny bit more in before I use the flat iron; it helps with frizz and it help protect your hair from the heat damage. Use a big paddle brush to blow dry your hair straight and then use a flat iron to make your hair even straighter and silkier. Sometimes I use a big curling iron to flip the ends of my hair up, other times I just flat iron the ends so their stick straight; depends on my mood. Rinse the conditioner out of your hair with cold water, I know it sounds horrible but the benefits are worth it. Don鈥檛 wash your hair every day; try to only wash it every 2 to 3 days so the natural oils in your hair can do their thing to keep your hair healthy. I鈥檝e been doing all of this for most of my life and I have managed to keep my really healthy despite all the torture I put it through. Hope this was helpful and good luck.

Anyone have advice on straightening your hair?

my friend has nat. wavy hair,

and she blow drys it and brushes it out when it's already dry, she says it takes much less time;

her hair doesn't get ruined.

Anyone have advice on straightening your hair?

The kit worked on my hair it frizzes too

Anyone have advice on straightening your hair?

just go to a hairdresser woman. and if you cant afford it, use a hot comb to do the bussiness. ah ah. jeez

Anyone have advice on straightening your hair?

since its ur 1st time, do it in the salon or u'll b back here asking 4 our help. once u do it the hair remains straight but u will need to re-touch the roots every time ur natural hair grows. that is after every 4-6 weeks u'll need to put the straightener in the roots to make it look like the rest of the hair.

remember to mosturise ur hair more coz relaxers will dry out ur hair making it look dull and dry. so use good shampoos and conditioners for dry colour-treated hair to give it the glossy look.

Anyone have advice on straightening your hair?

well i have been straightening my hair for about 4 years and i have tried buying a kit from like walmart or something and it was about 10 bucks, it didnt do anything for me!!! but it didnt wreck my hair either, your best bet is to just keep on straightening it with a flat iron.

if you get your hair professionally straightened it has big chances of damaging your hair big time! but for some people it isnt so bad, your choice!

my opinion: just straighten it with a normal flat iron, but i would put some products on when you get out of the shower or something to keep your hair from frying real bad =]]

good luck!!

Anyone have advice on straightening your hair?

i bought the boots home straightening kit around 4 months ago and my hair is still shiny and kind of straight. My hair is excactly like yours and frizzes when blow drying or raining. The boots kit is 拢15 and takes 3 hours to do...it may take ages but its worth it. it does damage your hair but you don't have to straighten it everyday which damages it more. i really reccomend it. :)

Anyone have advice on straightening your hair?

I have naturally wavy hair and i hate it i find that if you divide your hair into sections it will straighten better.

Be sure to protect your hair before straightening with something like 'Tresemme- heat defence stying spray' as heat may damage hair, but if protected it will not harm it.

Straight hair will go back to curly when it is wet so be careful near water.

Anyone have advice on straightening your hair?

i wouldnt do it yourself, you could mess up. go to a professional hair person or whatever. and no, the results cannot possibly last forever, maybe 6 months to a year at the most.

Anyone have advice on straightening your hair?

What you are talking about is a permanent relaxer. I would not suggest that you do this by yourself. I would suggest that you go to a salon to get this done. It does not wear off. If you plan on doing it yourself you need to pull and streach the hair straight with the products. After the product has processed rinse your hair for 5 minutes. If you do not rinse your hair for 5 minutes or more the smell will stay in your hair. You will smell it every time you shampoo your hair. After you rinse you should towel blot then apply the nuetralizer for 5 minutes. Do not shampoo, braid or but in a pony tail for 48-72 hours.

Anyone have advice on straightening your hair?

hey well my hair is really thick 2, but its not ugly. My hair is also curly, I just flat iron it. So to keep the damage to a minimum In bought the best straightener, a Chi (Chee) But they are really expensive, about $150. So if you looking for something a little cheaper go with somthing cearamic( its the best) and use a product in you hair when you straiten it, it reduces the dameage and it keeps it straiter longer I use the Chi spray or KMS Hot pressed spray. Both are amazing. Oh and I would NOT recomend the chemicals its damaging but if you dead set at least get it done by someone who is a perfesinal so you know that it is getting done right.

Hair straightening dilemma?

I have a hair straightener and i straighten my hair, but at the end,it is never completely straight.I don't use any products or syrums.Any help or tips?

Hair straightening dilemma?

Woah. This is definitely my question, haha. First of all, do you have a good hair straightner? If not, get a chi. They may be a little pricey but it is defenitly worth it. Experiment with products. I use smoothing cream, matrix heat protector,(I put those two before I straighten) chi split end guard, and herbal essences dangerously straight hairspray.(I put those after) What helped me for sure was I do one section at a time instead of all at once, I put my hair up more than half pony tail and straighten that. Then I put a little more down put the rest up and straighten that. So on and so on.

Hair straightening dilemma?

go slower, thats what I do and it straightens it out for me.

Hair straightening dilemma?

Make sure its really hot before you use it. Jusat go slower at the ends, but not so slow that it leaves any indents...or whatever you wanna call it.

Maybe get a trim, that could help. I sometimes use friz-ease which seems to help a little!

Hair straightening dilemma?

Well you should always start out by investing in a reliable flat iron, if you haven't already. That's the most importat. Buy a CHI, sedu, GHD, any of those top name brands, it will help tons. But if that isn't the problem, you could look into the shampoos/conditioners that help relax curls/straighten your hair a bit.

Hair straightening dilemma?

If you don't want to use any products then try using a small dollop of unscented lotion in your palms and lightly going over the ends to smooth and then go over again with the straightener. If you are open to using products, you can get good pre-straightener sprays for a relatively low price at any drugstore. You might even need a trim, that could help even and straighten things out!

Hair straightening dilemma?

go slower at the tips of ur hair sometimes u need to curl ur hair in words and straigheners cause spilt ends so try to get some spilt end protection

How long will straightening my hair last?

I just bought a Chi flat iron and I have very thick, medium length hair. I was wondering how long it takes to straighten your hair yourself, with the flat iron and how long the straighten lasts? I normally wash my hair everyday, should I change to washing it every other day?

How long will straightening my hair last?

I straighten my hair everyday, but i use Tresemme' hair tamer by using this it wont damage your hair and you'll get that look you want. It takes usually 30-45 minutes to straighten my hair and my hair is about that same as your.and it will last untill you get your hair wet.

hope this works..my hair is very curly too

peace

britt

How long will straightening my hair last?

Hair straighteners damage hair and they last for about 4 months...I would wash hair every day .....It won't take long to straighten it....

How long will straightening my hair last?

I wash my hair every day because my hair is fine, and it will get greasy very easily if I dont. So, I do not straighten my hair very often - but when I do I have a good straightener (about like a Chi) and It takes me a little less than ten minutes or so. One of my friends has crazzzy curly hair, and it takes her two hours. I guess it depends on your hair.

How long will straightening my hair last?

it dosent take long

but you should do sections

so it can come out better

and you should wash ur hair every other day

its healthy

How long will straightening my hair last?

Unless you live in a humid climate, the straightening should at least last for a day. Very thick, wavy hair generally has a mind of its own and doesn't react too well to straightening. Besides, the excessive heat of the flat iron might damage the hair, so I wouldn't straighten it too often. There's no guarantee that it will stay straight if you wash it less frequently, so I don't think that is necessary. If you want straight hair all the time, your hairdresser can straighten it with chemical processes, and that will last as long as a perm.

How long will straightening my hair last?

well what i would do is use the CHI heat protectant that you could buy at Kroger or Ulta on damp hair.

then use Paul Mitchell Skinny Serum on the damp hair too.

this will also protect heat.

when you straighten it right, it should last all day.

you should wash your hair every day to get the products out, otherwise your hair will have product build up in it =\

straighten your hair in 2 inch sections.

when you do this it should take about 20 minutes!

what will help speed the process of straightning would be to blow dry your hair straight then straighten it so it doesn't take as much time =]

hope i helped!

How long will straightening my hair last?

So it like depends if you have straightened it permanently or temporarily. Permanent lasts about 4 months and temporarily lasts until you wash your hair... It does not take too long to straighten it... I have wavy hair too!!!

How long will straightening my hair last?

I have long thick dark hair- its straight/wavy depending on the weather- i use a hot-tools straightening iron-

i wash my hair every 2-3 days and blowdry and straighten it.. blow drying and straight ironing your hair every day will break it.. also the nature oils from your scalp are very healthy and conditioning for your hair. but, dont let it go for too long because you dont want to look like a greasy ball, lol.

How long will straightening my hair last?

My hair is very thick and down to the middle of my back, it is also very very curly. When I straighten it I have to start the whole process the night before so my hair will dry overnight, because I don't use a hair dryer. In the morning when my hair is completely dry it will take me anywhere from 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours to straighten it. When I do straighten it I will usually go 2-3 days without washing it, because of how harsh the straightening process is. A hairdresser told me that it's best to wash your hair only every other day anyway if your hair is damaged or very dry. My hair stays straight until the next time I wash it. I have found some of the best stuff to help the straightening process with a flat iron at Sally's Beauty Supply.
