It depends on what product they use. I got my very naturally curly hair chemically straightened at an upscale salon with product called "Unreel". There is a website about it. I have loads of info for you on that, but if it's anything else, my knowledge is useless. Find out which product your local salons offer, and if it's Unreel, I'll be happy to tell you all I know. :)

I've had my share of bad perms and what I did was go out and buy the cheapest home perm kit and combed the neutralizer through my hair and continued till it was straight..then washed it etc...this works for an old perm growing out as well..I am not sure about naturally curly hair....deep condition your hair well for the next few days..especially the ends to avoid breakage..good luck
