I have a hair appointment for Wednesday and my hair is permed now. I m getting fed up with it now and was wondering of I should straighten it? Has anyone had their hair straighten before does it really dry out your hair as much as people say??Any advice??

hmmm its hard chemical straightening is a lot harsher on your hair than a flat iron and it also is a lot more work if you are in it for a commitment go for the chemical if not just do a flat iron and use a heat protecting spray plus chemical is really expensive and also drys out your hair a lot it is a big decision to make maybe consult with your hairstylist it could also depend on your hair type a lot of factors affect it

I straighten my hair everyday before I go to school. My hair isn't dry I have one of the moisterising straighteners. Go for it I say, straight hair is hot these days.

Chemical straigtening will ruin your hair if you've had it permed. Straightening iron won't hurt it though.

My sister straightens her hair all the time. It's in good condition.

Just make sure to take care of your hair, use good conditioners and stuff. You might want to put in a leave-in conditioner when you'll be applying heat to your hair.

nah... i straighten my hair all the time it does nothing xept make it look nice it only makes your hair go dry a tiny bit but thats only for me cause i straighten mine so often so dont worry and if it does somehow dry your hair there are shampoos made especially for that

not all hair types are suitable for straightening, some remain soft and nurtured but most will regret, ask a professional hairdresser before you do anything to your hair

hair are bonded by sulfur molecules (if i'm right), if you straighten it, you break the bonds, eventually it will rebond itself again but in a much worse state (because your hair doesn't have the memory of the bond anymore), that's why your hair gets dry and ugly, then you'll have to straighten it again and again and again until your hair finally remembers how to make a straight sulfur bond! (i must be mad talking about hair memory...) i think that's why people call it rebonding?

my hair is naturally curly and i get mine straightened 9 to 12 months chemically by my hair dresser and my hair has never been in better condition.and i don't have to use my hair straighteners every day which has to be a good thing.i would see your hair dresser and ask for a consultation and he or she will advise you what is best.hope this helps you.

It all depends on what hair type you have. My hair is a little thick, and when I straighten it, it's exactly the same. But my friend straightens her hair, it gets really dry and dosent move, and she has really thin hair. so i guess the thinner your hair, the more dry it will be by straightning it.
