Tips for straightening hair ?

I Love having my hair straight but i never get it to look the way i want when i do it my self.

I have a wet dry straightener but i can't get it to the point where i can run my fingers through my hair like how the salons do it.

Please share any tips that would help.

-My hair is down to where my bra is on my back.

- Kinda thick with some volume

-alil wavy (lost alot of my waves after i had my son last yr)

This is what i do after i wash my hair (at night) i comb it out with a pick, then i apply a leave in conditioner, after that i get sections of my hair and wrap it around my head and make it stay put with bobby pins then i wrap a silk scarf around it, then when i wake up in the morning i take it out and apply a heat protecter such as the ion from sallys then i flat iron my hair section by section. By the way i have really kinky curls and frizzy hair so this should help you.

i have a wet to dry straightner too. but if you straighten it while your hair is wet. it gets really dry and tangly. now what i do is shower the night before. blow dry your hair but dont straighten it. leave it a lose low pony tail and wake up in the morning and straighten it. works for me :]

I would tell you to do what my stylist did for me when she straightens my hair -

Wash it with a smoothing shampoo and conditioner. Squeeze out the excess water, blow dry it with a roller brush and try to get it as straight as possible. When it's dry, use a straightening iron on it. My hair looked so nice and sleek that she said I should be in a Pantene commercial. :)

FYI - My hair is naturally wavy.

helloooooooo

if i were you i would get it cut shorter, but just past the shoulders so it is still fairly long.

that way it is easy and quicker to strighten your hair...

when you do striaghten in do it in sections and layers....put the top halp up and straighten the bottom haor, then do the top layer,

hope i helped

bye

what works best for me is showing the night before and letting my hair dry naturally that way i don't need to damage it twice and in the morning i straighten it with a ionic straight iron or ceramic iron those are best for the hair then i but shine control in it not to much you have to have a good hair cut to have straight hair if you have a bad hair cut when your hair is straighten it just doesn't look are flow right ....

I have the very thick hair that is a little bit wavy. I have been straightening my hair for years and I've finally figured out a way to straighten my hair that works very well. I would highly reccomend using Biolage Products on your hair. They are more on the expensive side, but they definitely help in smooting your hair. The one product I use everyday is Biolage Smoothing Shine milk. After showering and towel drying your hair, spray some on your damp hair and comb through. It works as a detangler/leave-in conditioner. I'd next suggest sectioning your hair. Seperate the bottom half of your hair from the top half of your hair and clip it up. Using a brush to pull your hair taut, dry your hair going all the way around, next let down the top layers you had clipped up and do the same. After your hair is mostly dry, clip your hair back up and start straightening the bottom sections going over the same hair several times. I have a wet-dry hair straightener also and I love it, I'll never buy another one again. I don't use it on completely wet hair but its nice for then your hair is just barely damp. When you're done, use Biolage Smoothing Shine Mist and your hair will feel a lot silker and it keeps your style frizz-free all day long.
