Straightening hair with a clothes iron?

is it that much more damaging than a hair iron? cos my hairs really thick and curly and i have a crappy straightener...!

Straightening hair with a clothes iron?

yeah go for it

no harm in trying it to see if u liek it

Straightening hair with a clothes iron?

Well its only DANGEROUS because you could burn yourself.

Get a new straightner please.

Straightening hair with a clothes iron?

try it....??

Straightening hair with a clothes iron?

dont do that. if you have to ask the question you already know it is a risk.. make wise decisions:)

Straightening hair with a clothes iron?

I'd think so. Clothes irons are made for ironing clothes and getting wrinkles out. They're hotter and aren't made for something so fine. I wouldn't try it. Plus, how would you do it? Lay your head on an ironing board and flatten it out?

Straightening hair with a clothes iron?

well yea... i don know who told u a clothes iron is good to use but it's not. just use either a different brand straightener or just try something else!

Straightening hair with a clothes iron?

yaa.. a lot of people do that.

just be sure not to burn your self..

Straightening hair with a clothes iron?

haha

funny, my teacher was just telling us yesterday how the girls would straighten their hair with a clothing iron in the 70's

put a damp towel over your hair (laid out on an ironing board) and go at it!

just don't burn yourself....

My friend did that, and her hair is thick too. It got it stick straight, but her hair after a while got damaged, but still stayed straight. Get someone you TRUST to do it for you,on a flat surface, and make sure they don't go super close to your head also use a damp-ish cloth. You won't be able to get the top of your head/hair straight unless you want melted scalp. I would just get a new Iron,a good one for 2 year warranty.

If you use the clothes iron, use lots of leave in conditioner or serum.

Straightening hair with a clothes iron?

It can be more damaging...

The key to any iron is to have it as hot as possible...(steam is good); be careful NOT to burn your head though...It's easy done.

Straightening hair with a clothes iron?

Well they used to do it alot in the 70's, but you have to remember that they had very limited options back then. And their hair, for the most part, was in better condition because they didnt really blow dry or chemically process as much.

I wouldn't recommend trying it unless you:

A) Are truly desperate

B) Have unprocessed hair

C) Use it on a very low heat with light steam

D) Have someone help you so you dont burn yourself

Quite honestly..if you plan on straightening your hair a lot, just save up and buy a good quality iron. Keeping your hair nice, smooth %26amp; in good condition will be worth the money. Oh %26amp; make sure you always use a thermal protectant. I like Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide.
