Ladies: What have you found to be the best method in hair straightening?

I don't exactly have the hand coordination to blow it straight and I've been through two flat irons, (a Con-Air %26amp; a Revlon) and I'm still not impressed. Chemical straightening is not an option. Should I invest in a salon straightener like maybe a CHI? Or do you know of any creams or gels that would help give me the pin-straight hair that I want? It would be wonderful if you could help!

The trick is useing hair wax with the straightener. Get the Conair Infiniti (its 100% ceramic so it won't flake and fry your hair) I use FX molding wax (you can get it at walmart or somewhere). With dry hair (as in air dryed), work some wax through your hair, comb it through. Then take the iron through your hair in sections. This technique gives me amazingly pin straight hair and I have naturally curly hair so I would think it would work for you too. Good luck. I would buy a straitning shampoo, conditioner, and gel. Make sure they are all the same brand. Then take a straightner when it dries and try again. It might just be that you have tried so many products you are useing a mix of stuff. Try just one brand and just one type. I hope this helps you.

U know ur hair doesn't have to be 100% straight ... do ur best with the straighteners and just when u r out just brush Ur hand through it and mess it like this is the look u want

blow drying my hair then straightening with an iron

GHD straighteners are very good, salon quality and make my curly curly hair completely straight. They are ceramic so dont damage hair either.

Best method, start with a shampoo and conditioner designed to straighten and smooth hair (I like Sleek Look by Matrix), do a cool water last rinse to smooth cuticle layer, apply a straightening balm or creme, I use different ones for this, (E.texturlin Hot Style Ironing creme, New Image Velveteen Silk creme, STR8 spray) then blow dry, dont start straightening with a brush until hair is 90% dry, just use your fingers at first, then use a flat iron spray on each section you flat iron, I do chemically straighten some clients, they make ones for white hair that are gentle to use, but only if it is uncontrollably curly and frizzy, go to Sallys Beauty Supply to purchase a good flat iron, after straightening apply a little hair gloss or spray shine

I am not sure how curly your hair is, but mine is pretty wavy and I use a sedu flat iron, it's basically the same quality as the chi..maybe a little more expensive. Definatley worth it! I have used flat irons(revlon) before and they don't do anything near what the chi or sedu do. I love my flat iron. My friend who is a hair dresser said you don't have to buy any fancy serum...just make sure and apply some type of serum to your hair before you do it..it locks in moisture and helps the flat iron work alot faster, also it protects your hair from getting damaged as much. I have done it without serum and your hair won't look nearly as good. I would say..yes. Definatley invest in a chi or sedu. Go online and read reviews...that is how I decided on my sedu. There were like 500 reviews and almost all were 5 stars. Also if your hair is super curly use John Frieda straightning shampoo...sorry so long, just have alot of experience with this subject and wanted you to know..hope this helped.

Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner ( i always use aussie, I love the smell, and it keeps my hair soft and undamaged)... you can let your hair air-dry or blow dry it using a large round brush.. but when blow drying let your hair dry almost all the way, that way its not all poofed out and frizzy... put all but the bottom layer of hair in a clip and dry, layer by layer using the round brush.. follow the brush with your dryer down from the roots.. then when straightening do the same thing, part your hair and do it that way, you can also by some Biolage Silk and run through your hair either before or after straightening.. it leaves it silky and shiny... i suggest a ceramic hair straightener.. and i have long thick hair and i use the med. size straightener.. you just have to be patient with it if you want it perfectly straight... no bumps.. go to a beauty supply store and they will help you find the best one for your hair type

I would suggest you go to any Japenese salon. They use their own Japenese solution( with herbs and chemical) and it costs around $ 300-700 I guess and it lasts for a year or more than that ( depends on ur hair growth) I myself have done the same thing twice and it looks great ( completely straight and less maintenance) they call it thermal straightening. I think $300-500 is not bad to spend for a year than spending $40-50 each time you go for temporary straightening right?Hope this advice work for you.

For straighters, you get what you pay for. The CHI is awesome. I have teh CHI Turbo. Go to ebay, you can get one for 70 instead of 300.

yup i straighten my hair almost daily cause its super thick and wavy. i used to have a cheap one but my friend with thick curly red hair had a really nice one so i invested in it as well...it is a CHI global beauty it works great and doesn't have like thousands of settings to worry about, just one that works perfect. Plus it heats up in about 30 seconds

:)

good luck

- oh and they are expensive i paid ALOT for mine but my other friend got hers like half price online...so go there first, not to a salon cause then it costs more garenteed.
