How long does chemical hair straightening last?

How many showers/shampoos does it last through? or is it not about showers, and actually about your wavy hair growing back in?

And also, how much does it cost approximately to have a professional salon do this? I have above the shoulder length hair.

well, if it's just a hair straightener by yourself, then it wont last until you go into the shower. if it's a perm, it'll last about 4 months for the general perm. the one i went to makes it last about 4-6 months... i forgot the area, but they charge you on the length of your hair, pretty good price...it's some knda chinese perm or something...then they give you a specific shampoo to keep your hair straight after the shower.

When you get a relaxer it last until you cut it off. As your curly hair starts to grow you will have to get relaxer touch-ups. Just like permanent hair color. It can be pretty expensive. Ever salon is different and some don't even offer relaxers. It is worth it to go to a good salon though because the chemicals are very strong and can easily damage your hair. Make sure they do a test strand at least 48hrs before you get the relaxer. Some people are allergic to the chemicals and it can even make your hair fall out. I'm not sure your nationality, but if your hair is only wavy I would suggest just buying a really nice straightener. It will be cheaper and easier on your hair :) Hope this helps.
