I have layered hair and at times, the tips can go very curly and frizzy. I'm thinking of straightening my hair but I'm afraid it might damage my hair..

I too have curly hair. I have had it straightened in the past and straightening really damages your hair. Mine actually broke off in places. Since then the Japanese straightening system or Thermal Reconditioning has become widely used and it is very expensive, but doesn't damage your hair like traditional straightening does.

Another option is to get a perm using large rollers. Your hair will be a lot easier to straighten with a blow dryer, and it is less expensive than Thermal Reconditioning. Hope that helps :-)

If you use heat spray to protect your hair and buy deep conditioners your hair should be fine. I have extremely dry hair from being a swimmer and being in the chlorine every day and once I started straightening my hair it made no change - no dryer and it didn't burn into a crisp! Seriously, don't worry about it. I mean, unless you straighten it everyday 3 times a day I don't think you really have to worry about any serious damage done. There's a always a consequence to getting what you want and a little damage is what it's going to cost you... trust me it's worth the trade!

me%26lt;---straightening my hair every day for, let's see, at least 7 years. my hair is sooooooo smooth and silky. it's all about protecting your hair and taking care of it. you cant wash it twice a day or even every day. it's so tough on your hair. i prolly wash my hair say monday: i'll wash it in the morning before class, then not again till tues night. skip wednesday, and i'll wash it again thurs morning. you get the picture. [insert: that does not mean that you should go days without washing your body. hygiene, people, come on...]

you also gotta use a top quality iron on your hair. i've been using a chi for as long as i can remember. when i travel overseas and have to use the local ones there (i've blown up 2 chi's trying to use an electrical adapter in different european countries, simply b/c the chi uses soooo much electricity), but when i am forced to use other brands....not good brands...my hair gets mad at me an i find myself having to condition it more during that time.

so in my experience, 7 years.......no hair frying.
